Zeeland, MI, December, 2021 — Creative Dining Services, a Michigan-based hospitality management company, recently made holiday monetary donations on behalf of their employees and clients to 18 regional U.S. food banks, in communities that host their operations.
“Feeding people is the core of what we do every day in our business,” says Jim Eickhoff, President and CEO of Creative Dining Services. “As the stressors, weariness, and uncertainty of the pandemic continue, we are increasingly aware that 1 in 7 Americans are food insecure, and we are in a position to do our part in mitigating hunger this holiday season. We can think of no better way to honor our employees and clients than providing assistance to their community’s most vulnerable.”
The donations benefit food banks both large and small, from Michigan to Florida and West to Colorado. Feeding West Michigan, a Feeding America partner, is one of the food bank recipients of Creative Dining’s holiday donation spree. The donation will provide approximately 6,000 meals to the region’s food insecure through their network of 40 agency partners. 550 miles south of West Michigan, the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee received a donation that will provide approximately 4,000 meals to families in need in Middle and West Tennessee.
Creative Dining’s Corporate Director of Sustainability Janine Oberstadt says food rescue and donation is a year-round priority for Creative Dining.
“As part of our food waste reduction strategies, the majority of our dining locations have food rescue and donation initiatives in place, with regular donations to nonprofit organizations benefiting food banks, soup kitchens, and halfway houses. We’re hospitality people. We instinctively want to feed and care for people. The need right now is overwhelming, but we feel good about our contribution and when we see the hundreds of volunteers packing and distributing food, it inspires us to do more, not just during the holiday season, but every day.”
